Surrounded by valleys covered with white oaks, Flassans is located on one of the routes to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. Retaining its rural character and unique identity, Flassans-sur-Issole owes its name to a Latin expression that praises its healthy air and friendly atmosphere. With its bridges, chapels, Stations of the Cross, the ruins of the Château des Pontevès, and its oppidum, the town is built upon a truly remarkable historical past.
Château des Pontevès
Perched on the hilltop, the medieval Château des Pontevès overlooks the village and the Issole Valley.
Its history dates back to 940, when a watchtower was built on the site of an ancient Celto-Ligurian oppidum. The château became the property of the Pontevès family in 1399 and was expanded over the centuries.
Today, its remains include the lower courtyard, cistern, former living quarters and a former dovecote tower. From the platform, enjoy beautiful views over the château gardens, the village and the valley.
AOUBRE – Adventure Park
Unusual for the Var region, it is located in the middle of a cedar forest. It offers activities for the whole family: high ropes courses and zip lines, as well as the chance to explore the forest via suspension nets, a small farm, a butterfly garden, a sound trail, and a barefoot trail.
